Australian Parent Visa: Perceive the Basics of It

  • Contributory aged parent(residence) visa(subclass 864)



Balance-Of-Test Requirement


To qualify for a Balance of Test, you must meet the two requirements:


  1. Half of your children must be permanent Australian Citizen.

  2. Or, more of your children must be residing in Australia than in any other country.


Parent Visa(subclass 103)


If you have one or more child/step-child who is an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or an eligible New Zealand Citizen, then you can apply for this visa. You can live with your children permanently once you get this visa.

Sponsored Parent Visa(subclass 870)


This is a temporary visa that authorizes the parents of Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Citizen, and eligible New Zealand Citizen to live in Australia for 3 to 5 years.

This visa allows you to live with your children for 3-5 years without any Australian Immigration obligation. This is a good option to stay with your children as compared to any other visitor or temporary parent visa.


Aged Parent Visa(subclass 804)


This particular visa permits the old parents of an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or eligible New Zealand Citizen to live in Australia permanently.
